Situarea liricii lui Ilie Constantin s-ar justifica sub semnul unei reverii de factura apolinica. Ochiul priveste universul printre gene, tremurat si usor somnolent... Acest dolce far niente este insa mereu supravegheat de un spirit clasic, cu nostalgii de claruri mediteraneene. Frecventarea liricii italiene moderne (poetul e un remarcabil interpret al reprezentantilor ei celor mai de seama) se simte, cu bune rezultate, in propria materie lirica. (Ion Pop)

The definition of Ilie Constantin's poetry can be justified under the sign of an Apollonian reverie. The eye watches the universe through the eyelashes, trembling and slightly drowsy... But this dolce far niente is constantly controled by a classical mind, with nostalgias for Mediterranean clarity. The involvement with modern Italian poetry (the poet is a remarkable interpreter of its greatest representatives) can be felt and leads to good results in his own lyrical material. (Ion Pop)
