Cateva emanatii sufletesti apuca sa treaca o clipa inaintea caderii stavilarelor si, daca am aduna cu insistenta ceea ce reuseste sa razbata la noi, am descoperi ca e vorba de neimplinire, de nostalgie, de amaraciune, de singuratate, de exasperare si sarcasm disperat si fara obiect. In versurile lui Virgil Mazilescu rataceste o fiinta a carei deznadejde e tradata de gesturile imanente sintaxei sale si mai ales de felul cum isi fereste de noi ochii inlacrimati. (Eugen Negrici)

A few emotional emanations manage to reachus, one second before the sluices break, and if we persisted in gathering what reaches our senses, we would find that it is unfulfillment, nostalgia, grief, loneliness, exasperation, and desperate, objectless sarcasm. Virgil Mazilescu's verses are haunted by a soul whose despair is betrayed by gestures immanent in his syntax, and especially by the way he hides his tear-filled eyes from us. (Eugen Negrici)
