Cezar Baltag a fost si a ramas un poet al fervorilor abstracte. Suferinta lui cea mai acuta se dispenseaza de elemente fizice, materiale, amana tipatul visceral, invaluindu-se intr-o meditatie generalizanta. Esenta intelectuala a poeziei sale nu se verifica numai in simetriile care o structureaza, dar si in dozarea emotiilor, in convergenta efectelor. Fiecare metafora e gandita ca prefigurare a unui sens. (Mircea Martin)

Cezar Baltag has always been a poet of abstract fervors. His deepest distress avoids physical, material elements, postpones the visceral outcry, wrapping itself in a generalizing meditation. The intellectual essence of his poetry is not validated solely by the symmetries that structure it, but also by the dosage of emotions and the convergence of effects.
