Transportation, movement of people and goods from one location to another. Throughout history, the economic wealth and military power of a people or a nation have been closely tied to efficient methods of transportation. Transportation provides access to natural resources and promotes trade, allowing a nation to accumulate wealth and power. Transportation has suffered many changes along time. Thanks to the improvement of transport people could explore new territories, trade became easier and people could reach territories that were unreachable before.
The most recent discoveries or inventions include the hovercraft, a vehicle which floats on a cushion of air, and the spaceship, which allows people to travel into space or to distant planets.
Transport in the future will be faster because people will have to travel longer distances in a short period of time. This tendency for faster means of travel has always been present and I think that it won’t disappear. Scientists think that the fastest speed reachable is the speed of light. Maybe in the future we will be able to reach it although it is very fast, approximately 300.000 km/s. I think that there will be some sort of vehicles or ships capable of reaching the speed of light and this would be very useful in every way, people transport, cargo transport, the possibilities are unlimited. I don’t think that we are very close to discovering an energy source capable of powering vehicles to the speed of light. But hopefully it will be not environmentally safe, but also safe for the passenger.

Another way of transport could be teleportation, the possibility to dematerialize yourself and rematerialize to another place. This is not very stabile because it has to be perfect or else who knows what could happen. Teleportation could replace any other means of transport if it were possible nowadays and if it were cheap, although I don’t think that it will be very cheap, so that only big firms who make very much money can afford it, or very wealthy persons.
People transportation doesn’t have to be necessarily material, nowadays people can “travel” to almost any place on the earth with the help of the internet or the television. This isn’t as interesting because people don’t feel the thrill of being there, they just watch moving pictures of the place, but that can inspire some people to actually want to visit that place. This means of transport can evolve to a higher level of sense stimulation, like virtual reality. Virtual reality can replace the way we perceive the world.
To conclude transportation will become easier, safer, more comfortable, and less polluting.
